One way through which we ensure that our students are equipped with leadership skills and global mindedness is by having Model UN as one of our co-curricular activities.
The Model UN students had a wonderful trip to Bilbao, Spain last week. They arrived on Wednesday and had a day to tour the city and even visit the famous Guggenheim museum in Bilbao. On Thursday evening they celebrated the opening ceremonies in the Biscay Parliament, Gernika. Our 8 participating students represented the countries of Senegal and Indonesia, and spent two days lobbying and merging resolutions with the other countries participating. Over 200 students from 21 schools were present for the conference. Students spent the final days discussing and debating resolutions. One of our students, Carla Franchetti, even had 42 votes for her resolution and it was passed by the general assembly. On Saturday evening, they attended a Black Tie dinner held at the Hotel Seminario. It was lovely to see our students dressed in their formal wear. Our students were outstanding representatives of AV and are already planning the next Model UN excursion.
